Post-block modification

Home practice invitation

Read the attached handout on post-block modification.

Remember, everyone’s stammer is different, therefore it is important to experiment to find out the approach that is most helpful for you. Start experimenting in the easiest speaking situations first (letting people know what you’re doing, if that helps) and then discuss the outcomes in your next session.

Some people find that once a stammered word is “out there”, it automatically becomes easier to say. If this is the case, you might wish to experiment with consciously bringing the stammered word back into the conversation at some point, bringing your awareness to how it feels to say the word in an easier and less effortful way.
